Pharrell Williams unveils Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2025 Collection on UNESCO rooftop

Airplane-shaped pins and zippers complemented leather flight jackets and bombers, intermittently dispersed with map-embossed workwear jackets and blue-green bombers. According to Louis Vuitton’s official show recap, these notes are a “salute [to] Mother Earth.” The clothes are as much a costumed embodiment of an immaterial past as they are tangible relics of an accessible style, with caveats, of course. Coarse golden sand around a frothing fountain in the storied courtyards of Paris’ Palais Royal —a stone’s throw from the brand’s foundational boutique — set the scene for Nigo’s latest co-ed show for Kenzo.

Underneath the jacket, she wore a coordinating white button-down and a black tie, which spelled out “MARQUE L. Set against a dramatic sky, with shifting clouds and fluttering world flags, the collection’s progression of colors mirrored the diversity of the models, moving from darker to lighter tones in multicultural harmony. This theme extended to the garments, which included pixelated python skin patterns and world maps centered on Africa.

This bag offers a blend of style and functionality, making it a worthy investment for any luxury handbag enthusiast. The company even goes so far as to shred and burn any bags they won’t be selling to ensure they don’t end up on the black market for less than they’d normally charge. Despite all this overhead, Louis Vuitton never discounts any of its world-famous handbags. But both of those are a pittance compared to what Louis Vuitton pays for its 18,800-square-foot store in Hong Kong. At an incredible $2,714 per square foot, the French fashion house is spending around $51 million a year for this one location.

Matilde knows a lot about the history of the different fashion houses, and bag models. As you can imagine, the world’s number one luxury fashion brand can’t exactly be seen selling its famous handbags next to a food court. The bag is a direct reference to an accessory Louis Vuitton designed over 25 years ago that commemorates France hosting the 1998 World Cup. It’s not just a piece of Louis Vuitton’s history (that Rihanna happens to own) but marks a foundational year for the brand, since 1998 was when LV first introduced a ready-to-wear collection by Marc Jacobs. Among the approximately 70 looks, functionality meets form to signify the transference from theatricity to practical realism.

Models barreled through with larger-than-life Louis Vuitton trunks in chromatic color while donning matte-black suits amid the futuristic world painted by Williams. Pharrell continues to take the men’s fashion show to new levels of ambition and expense. Using the LV app to schedule a call with Care Service to discuss a repair to my vintage LV bag, there were issues with confirming the time of the call. The next day I emailed Care Service to confirm my appointment conference call time explaining I was give 2 different times, they emailed back telling me the system showed my appointment time was 12 pm CST. I emailed Care Service with screen shots of my confirmed appt times and expressed this needed to be shown to a manager or Technical Team. Technically, I’d need to be available from 1pm EST, to 1AM EST, for the call to discuss my repair!

SS25 show staffers donned jackets with the words, “Le monde est à vous” inscribed on the back, which Pharrell shared on Instagram earlier this week. Today, Louis Vuitton expresses its daring spirit by developing additional savoir-faire in a growing number of related crafts, always propelled by an inexhaustible desire to do the unexpected. Historically known for its Damier and Monogram canvases, the Maison also creates leather goods in a range of finishes such as the iconic Epi, as well as increasingly sophisticated leathers and models such as the timeless Capucines bag. Starting at the end of the 20th century, Louis Vuitton reconnected with its founder’s expertise as a wardrobe packer with the launch of fashion collections for both women and men, now headed by Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquière.
